Trojancast is an outstanding heavily reinforced bath with a distinctive finish.It will reward consumers with a bath that has the associated strengths of a cast iron and steel bath with all benifits of an acrylic one. The final green coating had been added insulating properties estimated to keep the bath hot for up to twice as long as conventional baths. All Trojancast baths will have encapsulated base boards with help further increasing the strength and rigidity of the bath.

Most acylic baths today are made from ICI Acrylic sheets vaccuum formed in a mould and re-inforced with fibre glass and a base board.
In reality, the actual thickness of the bath bears no relation to the stated thickness of the bath which is usually the thickness of the acrylic sheet before it is formed, 3mm, 5mm or 8mm.

CONTRACT BATHS
These are the most common baths sold in the UK normally by the DIY chains and builders merchants. These baths often have very little fibre glass reinforcement and the chipboard baseboard is open to damage by water and condensation.

A better buy is where the bath (5mm or 8mm) is fitted with a substantial base board or leg base support system and the whole bath is extensively reinforced with fibreglass. This also provides a fully encapsulated base board which affords permanent protection.
Even better are the Re-enforced Baths such as - Carronite - Aquanite - or Trojancast where the bath is totally covered on the underside of the bath and the baseboard encapsulated.See B & C above

STEEL BATHS
Strong but vulnerable to chipping and quickly lose the heat of the water.

CAST IRON BATHS
Again very strong but vulnerable to chipping and quickly looses the heat of the water. Check with your plumber before ordering as most plumbers hate them.

FIBREGLASS BATHS
Fibreglass baths largely disappeared in the 80's. Their main weakness was the gel coat surface which can craze, and after a few years of cleaning the fibreglass can be seen through the gel coat.

ROLL TOP BATHS
With roll top baths they can be made of double skinned 5mm acrylic with a synthetic filler or for a much better solid feel go for the Victoria and Albert Quarrycast (Image D).
